My brother found out a few years ago he has lukemia and was diabled.
His wife left him as soon as she found out he was sick. Instead of taking her daughter with her to raise her she left her with my brother, thank goodness. Because she is not a good mother. But here is the problem!
Even though his ex (they are seperated but NOT divorced yet) is not raising her daughter she is getting her daughters social security check every month. Well my brother has called the SSO many times to tell them that HE is raising his daughter and his ex is still recieving the check!
The Social security office won't even talk to him about it! Why?? I thought if someone was recieving a check and abusing the system they would at least listen to him! Who would he talk to about this if nobody will listen? He can't afford a lawyer to get a divorce much less to fight her on any of this! His lukemia has put a strain on him finacially. He should be getting that check to help raise his daughter! Not the Ex, that uses it on drugs! Please tell us what he can do!

I suspect calling the fraud hotline may result in the case being taken more seriously.
However, you should consider the potential ramifications. Contacting the fraud hotline may result in the ex-wife owing money back to Social Security (an overpayment), or possibly even jail time.
If your son is unable to care for the child, you should consider who would care for the child if the ex-wife is in jail or otherwise unable to care for the child.

The mother should pay back what she owes! And she also deserves to go to jail for recieving a check that she uses on drugs instead of using it on her daughter! My brother has taken care of this child since birth! And still taking care of her! He put her through school and paid for everything! If my niece asks her mother to spend some of that check on school clothes, band items etc. The so called mother tells her no!
And yet I posted this months ago ( all truth) which can be proven. And still nothing has been done about it! The mother still is recieving the check! Do you people even look at school records? Those will prove who has put my niece through school!
