2011. Assistance from the Social Security Office

2011.1 How can the Social Security office help a claimant?

The Social Security office or hearing office can help you or other interested parties prepare for the hearing by:

  1. Explaining the issues involved in the case;

  2. Explaining how the hearing will be conducted;

  3. Telling you how to arrange for the appearance of witnesses;

  4. Advising you how to obtain any documents that may be needed for the presentation of the case; and

  5. Telling you how to arrange for a representative.

2011.2 Can claimants review written materials about the hearing?

Yes, you or your representative may review the record and receive copies of the evidence.
