2109. Were you eligible for assistance under a Federal/State matching grant program for the aged, blind, or disabled in December 1973?

The SSI program went into effect in January 1974. If you were eligible for assistance under one of the prior Federal/State matching grant programs for the aged, blind, or disabled in December 1973, you were "converted" to SSI. Congress wanted to be sure that you were not disadvantaged by your conversion to SSI. Therefore, it enacted certain special provisions applicable only to you as a converted recipient. These special provisions are called "grandfather" provisions and are discussed in §2172.

I have a 14 year old daugther who is being given a diagnostic of severe depression and panic and anxiety disorder which is interfiering with her daily life. Am planning to move to fl pretty soon. I would like to know if Ill be able to get some help under the SSI for her. She is on medication right now. She is been on med for over a year now. Am from fl but move to PR for a little period of time. I would like to know is there is anyway I can get the help for her. Thank you!

My daughter and i suffer from anxiety i tried to get SSI for her but they denied her. I guess u have to be in a wheel chair dying from somethin in order to get SSI benefits which is CRAZY! This world is so f'd up.

I have applied and I have congestive heart failure, renal failure, gout, urinary in continence, rectal bleeding need surgery for that , left knee need surgery from car accident and I also see a psychiatrist for severe depression and anxiety, asthma also, keep getting hospitalized for renal failure and I still haven't got a answer back yet, do they wait till you die then approve you?
