Daughter's SSD check

My ex wife is disabled and receives a SSD check along with my daughter due to her mother's disablity. Question?? Does my ex wife have to notify SS office that my daughter lives with me during the summer for 8 weeks for the past two years?? And if she does, who receives my daughters SSD check during this time my daughter is with me.?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like your ex-wife receives "standard" Social Security disability rather than SSI. SSI reporting requirements are stricter than for "standard" disability.

For the case of SSI, when a child is staying temporarily with a parent, that parent's income may be "deemed" to the child. However, this is likely for the case where the child has a disability, and not applicable to your case.

It sounds like your ex-wife is the representative payee for benefits for the child. I think it unlikely that the SSA would process a change in representative payee for only an eight-week change in living arrangements.

You can see the form requesting a change of representative payee payee here :

SSA documents are somewhat hazy on this. Please contact the SSA directly for your particular case.
