reapplying for ssi

i was getting ssi until august of 2012, it ended because i was not keeping up with dr appts, medicines, etc.. i reapplied for ssi in nov of 2012, i was told that it would take between 3-6 months for ss to make a decision (its been almost 4 months now.). i have sickle cell anemia .& am considered disabled due to my inability to work because i cannot stand/walk for long periods of time. i also have increasing health issues. am i able to receive ssi again and will it take the entire 6 months for me to find out?
