Try doing things online like applying for disability benefits at ssa.gov. Physical distancing of at least 6 feet and masks are required. SSA will provide a mask if you do not have one. Call to see if you can get an appointment by phone first. Fridays may have more appointments available.

Telephone system
Tried to call SS # 1-800-772-1213, and am appaled.
#1 - WHY ASK IF I WANT TO SPEAK ENGLISH? This is American still isn't it?
#2 - Had to speak to automated system, and only asked them, "are you open today" (Monday, 7/6)? They responded 5 times saying can you use less words, etc., etc. Thought they might not understand you, so I started asking, "Are Social Security offices open today?"....again, system could not comprehend the question. Am sure if I was an illegal from Mexico and asked in Spanish I would have received an answer.
#3 - Your automated system is rediculous. I will drive to the SS office and see if they are open? Government at work????? And, you people want to take over health care...what a joke.
