My son is joining the army hes on ssi he wants to cnacel it and i am reprsentee supporting his decision all the way.

Over the last few months and over a yr.no medsand no therapy his depression status has improved dramatically and he is 18 and passed the asvab and wants to join the army. Do we have to pay back all those yrs of ssid payments he was very depressed at time and it was intermittent when he did review in December but they said they would check from time to time to see if he still qualified. So i am assuming until they verify cancellation and time he applied for withdrawal money received during that time if u use it u repay not before canceling?

You will want to check with the SSA for your particular case. However, in general the SSA encourages folks with disabilities to return to work.

Some of the work incentives include keeping your cash benefits and medical coverage while you transition to the work place. And, if you find that you cannot work, it is easy to start your payments again.
