Hello,
When I got married I changed my name to my husband's last name. Now I am applying a passport and would like to list my maiden name as my middle name, so I can have my passport show my name as FIRST- MIDDLE (MAIDEN) - LAST (MARRIED). Is this considered a name change? Will I have to change my SS card, driver's licence, etc if I change my name this way?
Middle names are not part of legal name for SSA
We can't comment on this for other state or federal agencies, but for the Social Security Administrtion a middle name or suffix is not considered part of the legal name. It does not matter if the middle name or suffix is included, omitted, or incorrectly shown on an SSN card.
