I'm wondering how to get help with my rent. my benifits are only $780/mo. * I'm broke after rent and elect. and phone.* I also have a heart monitor device that runs through my phone line, making a phone line a medical necessity, in fact it's the only reason I got a home phone. I know there's help out there, I just don't know where to start.

Go to the following link to find Social Security offices in your zip code :

Enter your zip, hit 'Locate'. The next page will show the SSA office near you.
At the bottom of that page, below the map, you'll see a link to 'Other agencies that can assist you with your welfare, housing, meal assistance and other support services.' Click on that to see contacts such as Council on Aging, food banks and the like.
