My birthdate is 6/8/1940, 72 years + 2 months. According to Social Security office, I am receiving the maximum amount of Social Security every month.
However, I am still working and Social Security and Medicare is deducted from my payroll check. If I am receiving the max each month, why do I have to continue to pay into Social Security out of my payroll wages and then be taxed again when I file my tax return.

Paying FICA taxes while receiving Social Security benefits
You will have to pay the FICA taxes while working.
Your employer must withhold FICA taxes from your paycheck. Although you are retired, you do receive credit for those new earnings. Each year Social Security automatically credits the new earnings and refigures your monthly benefit. If your new earnings are higher than in any earlier year used to calculate your current benefit, your monthly benefit could increase.
