Changing benefits when spouse dies

I cannot find this anywhere. I am currently collecting on my SS. My spouse is still working. If he dies, can I change my status to receive his benefits and drop mine, since his will be much more than mine? Where can I find this info on SS website? Please help...

I'd recommend contacting the SSA for your specific case. I did find this :

If you qualify on your own record, we will pay you that amount first. But if you also qualify for a higher amount as a spouse, widow or widower on another record, you'll get a combination of benefits that equals that higher amount.

However, it doesn't specifically address your situation where you're *already* receiving benefits on your record.
