This question is a bit hard to follow. If you hand received a paper check and then deposited it in your bank, it may take a short time to clear and be available for your use. However, US government checks normally should have little or no "hold".

Social Security is moving away from paper checks to direct deposit in your account. You should be able to check online or via telephone to confirm direct deposit.
