My husband is on SSD. I have been unemployed since Feb 2011. We are raising 2 minor grandchildren. Am I eligible for any spouses' benefits?
Spousal and dependent child benefits for disabled worker
Yes, this may be possible depending on your age.
Benefits are payable to you if age 62 or older, unless you collect a higher Social Security benefit based on your earnings record. The spouse benefit amount will be permanently reduced by a percentage based on the number of months up to your full retirement age.
When you qualify for Social Security disability benefits, a dependent grandchild may also qualify.
Check with Social Security for your situation.
