Can I Delay Getting SS and Instead Get SSI?

I'd like to postpone getting social security as long as I can since the benefits go up the longer I delay up to age 70. Ideally, I'd like to delay getting social security until I am 70.

If I am otherwise eligible for SSI, do I have the option of NOT signing up for social security, even though I could if I wanted to, and getting SSI instead until I am 70 and then, at 70, signing up for social security?
