Can my son receive my mother survivor benefits

my mother past away May8,2011, i was 19 at the time 8 1/2 monther pregnant, i been tryin to receive benefits from her since a week after he death. But the social security company kept bs around with my paper work. I have all the paper work that she had on her social security and how much she paid into it and its about 20,400. I really wont to know if my son can receive her benefits cause it will really help out. Im unempolyed at the time and living with my older brother. yes im looking for a job

There are indications that grandchildren can qualify for survivor benefits under certain circumstances. These circumstances are not clear, but apparently the grandchild must have begun living with the grandparent before age 18 and received at least one half of his or her support from the grandparent for the year before the month the grandparent became entitled to retirement or disability insurance benefits, or died.
