Social Security Card Centers
If you live in the Minneapolis area, you may need to go to a 'card center' instead of a 'field office'. Card centers are centralized processing sites for all Social Security number applications for area residents. You must visit a card center if you need a Social Security card, your personal information needs updating, or your employer asked you to visit a Social Security office.

For other needs (ex. applying for benefits) you may visit the field office listed above.

Try doing things online like applying for disability benefits at ssa.gov. Physical distancing of at least 6 feet and masks are required. SSA will provide a mask if you do not have one. Call to see if you can get an appointment by phone first. Fridays may have more appointments available.

If i get off the flight in Minneapols at 13:20pm, how I can get the nearest office for me to apply my social security card? where it is? how long it will take? is it possible for me to get back to the airport for my flight at 5:15 .

For a replacement social security card, do I need to go to Minneapolis, or will the office in St. Paul be able to take care of this.

My niece, who is three years old, just came to the US with her mother two months ago. We've got her permanent resident card already, but her social security card has not arrived yet. We want to check it out if her social security card is in the system or not. How do we go about to do it? We are living in Saint Paul, MN. In case that we need to re-apply a new one for her, which Social Security Office do we need to go to do that, the one in Saint Paul or in Minneapolis?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

It takes approximately 7 to 10 business days after the SSA verifies immigration documents with the Department of Homeland Services (DHS) before they can assign a Social Security number. After receiving verification from DHS, SSA will mail the Social Security card. In most cases, SSA can verify your documents within two weeks with DHS online.

If the SSA cannot verify documents online, it may take us several weeks to hear from DHS.

Please see this post for the time frame for processing a Social Security card for a legal alien :

can an inmate receive ssi funds?

If they are incarserated for 11 months or less they will susped his benefits and once he is out then they will start back up. If it is a stay of 12month sor long they will be cut off and have to reapply all over once they are free

If I recently got married and need to get a new social security card with my new last name on it do I need to go to the Minneapolis location to do this or can I do this at the St. Paul location?

I'd call the office to confirm, but indications are that for Social Security cards (and changes), you'd need to use the Minneapolis location at 1811 Chicago Ave.

I have called them 3 times and left my phone number ! no one calls me back..........and that is the 1-800-773-1213 number.

Your government NOT at work !
