I was on ssi or soc sec when my wifeapplied at 63 she was told she had to deduct from her amount to pay enough in an on her medicare an that when she reached 65 to come back an she would have enough paid in an that she would be abel to draw half of my amount we did all this but when we went back they said they were DEEMING her an it was a new program an she would only recive one third of mine.an that she still owed more on her medicare when i asked about the 130 dollars they had been takeing out fot it she said I was LIEING.an that we should be happy an not greedy because when she got old enough there wouldnt be any an to stop complaining. An nobody weve talked to has any idea what deeming is I still dont know can anyone help us on this

"Deeming" is when resources (assets) or income from a relative is "assigned" or "shared" to a beneficiary. I have generally seen deeming in the case of an SSI beneficiary.

In your case, it seems like the income of one of you is being deemed to the other spouse. In general, deeming may reduce one's benefit.
