To get social security umber
I will like to know whether i can use the birth record gotten from the hospital to get the social security number for my baby because the Government Birth Certificate is taking time to get and i need to be in Africa next weekend, ad i still need to apply for the baby's passport and visa, thank you
Social Security number for a baby
The easiest time to apply is when you give information for your child’s birth certificate. If you wait to apply for a number at a Social Security office, there may be delays while they verify your child’s birth certificate. You can apply for a Social Security number at either the hospital or at an office.
At the hospital: When you give information for your baby’s birth certificate, you will be asked whether you want to apply for a Social Security number for your baby. If you say “yes,” you need to provide both parents’ Social Security numbers if you can. Even if you do not know both parents’ Social Security numbers, you can still apply for a number for your child.
