disability question

I have to have surgery that would leave me in bed for about 3 months I’m the only source of income have a house and 3 kids, can I qualify for disability for that period of time or is there any help out their? I never got Short Term Disability from my job so if I request it now they pretty much are going to deny my request since I know I need surgery and that process takes too long. What can I do so my kids can have food and shelter while I am down for 3 months I am 25 years old

In general, Social Security only covers long-term, "permanent" disabilities.

As you imply, many companies offer short-term disability as either an employee-paid or company-paid benefit.

I would check with your state government plans. For example, California State Disability Insurance (SDI) provides short-term disability which is paid for by mandatory taxes on employees and employers.
