My girls dad and I are no longer together and he gets disability; due to this I only get $20.00 per month in child support and I don't get any other kind of help from him for our two girls. I have been told that I can get disability benefits for them due to him being disabled. If this is the case how do I go about getting this for them?
Disability benefits for dependent children
Yes, you and your children may qualify for benefits.
If your girls are 18 or under and not married, they likely will qualify for benefits based on your husband's work record. Additionally, if you care for your your children (and they are under age 16), you may receive "care giver" benefits.
Please contact the SSA directly for your specific case.
