SSI: moving to a different state with representative payee

Hi, trying to help another person possibly relocate to another state. This person has a representative payee. What happens with this arrangement if the person wants to move? Thank you!

There are a couple angles with this. First, be aware that SSI payments can vary from state to state. Some states provide a supplement to the federally provided SSI benefit, so it's possible the total benefit may fall if you move to the "wrong" state.

We have several posts on this, including the following :

As for the second angle, the representative payee, I couldn't find details regarding the protocol for this. I would presume the person would still require a representative payee in the new location. Note all minors require a representative payee. In this case, the beneficiary may need to fill out form

Also note the current representative payee must report to the SSA when the beneficiary moves.

Please contact the SSA directly for details.
