My wife and I are the same age and on SS. Her SS retirement choice was 50% of my SS retirement amount.
If I should die before my wife we understand that my SS benefit checks will stop. What happens to my wife's SS checks? Will the amount remain the same, increase or decrease?
Thanks,
Al B

You'll want to verify, but your wife should qualify for survivor benefits based on your ("the worker's") record. A widow or widower, at full retirement age or older, generally receives 100 percent of the worker's basic benefit amount.
