Hope I can make this clear.
My husband will be transitioning from SSI to Veteran's Pension. His Pension will be approximately 500 dollars more than what he is currently receiving in SSI.
Our adult son, who is developmentally disabled, lives with us and receives SSI. He also works and makes a small amount of money, usually 200 - 250 dollars a month.
We are wondering if the new, higher amount of income received by my husband will affect our son's SSI. Will he get less money? My husband is our son's representative payee, by the way.
Still waiting to hear back from SS. Just confused. I know it's the holidays so don't expect a reply right away.
Many thanks.
Deeming of parental income to adult SSI recipient
My reading is that the father's income will not be attributed to the son in this case.
Social Security documents indicate that "Deeming (of parental income) stops the month after a child turns age 18."
