SSI benefits affected by restricted driving license

Our 25 year old daughter receives SSI for birth vision impairment.
She did not start receiving SSI till she was in college.
She couldnot drive a car.

Now in NC there is a restricted driving license available if you can pass the driving test for 'only daytime, good weather restrictions, sparsley populated' that she is available to try for. She is trying to do this so she has some limited mobility on her own.

She has been granted a learners' permit. She will have to try and pass the driving test after learning to drive. Will this affect her SSI payments?

You may want to contact your local Social Security office, anonymously, to inquire about this. They may be more familiar with the impact of this locally issued license.

A critical question would be, "Has your daughter's condition fundamentally changed from the time of her disability determination?". If her condition is essentially the same, it would seem unlikely that her benefits would be affected.

See the link below for information on the SSI disability re-evaluation.
