I was 6 months pregnant with mine and my fiances daughter. I want to try for survivor benefits for her. Kyle worked the whole time he was 18 and died 2 months before his 19th birthday. Will it be possible? Or should I not even try?
Survivor benefit for child when deceased had limited work record
Yes, I recommend you contact the SSA directly as your fiance may have sufficient work history.
Under a special rule, the SSA can pay benefits to your children if you don't have the number of credits needed. Survivors can get benefits if you have credits for one and one-half year's work (6 credits) in the three years just before your death.
