I need to be reminded when my son will lose his death benefit social security. He is turning 15 in December. Lost my husband to cancer in 2006. Remarried in 2008 but have been separated from my current husband since early April of this year. I just need to be prepared financially with my job situation to know when he will no longer receive any benefits as this is a very trying time. Thanks.
Survivor benefits for children
Your unmarried children who are under 18 (up to age 19 if attending elementary or secondary school full time) can be eligible to receive Social Security benefits when a eligible parent passes away.
