I'm getting serious with my girlfriend & I'm on Social Security Disability & she's on Supplemental Security Income & I'm wondering how these programs would be affected if we were to get married. I've been doing a bit of research on this & I understand that SSDI & medicare are generally not affected by marriage but SSI is because it's a needs based program. I'd like more information on how her SSI could get affected if we did get married. Her state(Vermont) supplements SSI a little so I'm wondering how state supplements factor in.
