Divorced exhusband deceased/I'm remarried

I am divorced from my first husband and was married for over ten years, then he passed away. He was never remarried but I have remarried, I am 61 years of age and recieved approximatley 300.00 a month pension check from an employer. I am not currenly working but found out I might be able to collect SS on my deceased husband who was fully paid into SS. Also, when my exhusband passed away, I recieved benefits for my children and benefits for a certain time for myself. I haven't recieved any benefits for years now.

You may want to contact Social Security directly as your situation is rather complex.

The date of your final (I believe third) marriage is important. Generally, you cannot get survivor benefits if you remarry before age 60. But remarriage after age 60 (or age 50 if you are disabled) will not prevent you from getting benefit payments based on your former spouse's work record.

It sounds like you're receiving a pension of $300 per month from a PRIVATE company. If your pension is from a government entity, it's possible your future Social Security benefits may be reduced through a couple programs called WEP or GPO.

In general, you can not receive multiple benefits from previous marriages. You can generally receive the highest possible benefit.
