He can receive checks for all the children and himself also as their caretaker/parent but he should be receiving benefits for the children for sure until they reach 18. Just tell him to go to SS office take death certificate with him and everyone's SS card and birth records!

I loss my mother in October of 2011 && i am 19 years old and freshman college student. While in high school she recieved ssc for me and disability for herself. By me being in school and not having any parentals , am i elidgible for ssc benefits? please help ?

There may be other programs (ex. college grants or loans), available to you. However, as far as I'm aware, you are not eligible for Social Security benefits.

For a child still in high school, one can qualify for Social Security benefits as the child of a disabled or deceased worker. However, such benefits are not available for children in college.

my son father died when he was 12 his dad was a veteran in he was the youngest of 8 kids. is there some veteran benfefits for him? HE is 13yrs old know

I recommend contacting Social Security regarding this. There's a good chance your son will qualify for Social Security survivor benefits.

Military personnel have been covered under Social Security since 1957, and those who served in 2001 or earlier receive special credits that augment their earnings for the purpose of computing Social Security benefits.
