I have been divorced for four years now and kept my ex-husband's last name for our daughter's benefit only. I am now getting married for the 2nd time (to a different man) and wanted to have my last name hyphenated to reflect my maiden name and my new husband's last name. Is this possible to do all at once? Or would I need to legally change my last name back to my maiden name and then hyphenate it after we receive the marriage certificate? Thank you.
Name change after remarriage
We specialize in Social Security issues, and not name change per se, so you'll want to check with a more authoritative source on this.
Note the legal procedures for name changes may well vary from state to state, so you will need to verify what's right for your state.
However, for the purposes of a Social Security card name change, you can find requirements for a name change here :

Social Security might accept your divorce decree, your birth certificate and your new marriage certificate as sufficient evidence to drop your former name and to substantiate your new hyphenated name.
It might be easiest and most thorough to get a court order for your new name and show only that to Social Security.
