I am divorced and have a divorce decree stating i can change my name back to my maiden name. I still have my Social Security card from when I was a kid with my maiden name on it, do I still have to go to the SS office and get a new one?
"Name change" after divorce - returning to maiden name
Sounds like you did "function" (earn wages, sign contracts etc.) under your husband's name.
Did you ever formally apply to Social Security to change your name from your maiden name to your husband's name? If so, I would recommend formally changing back to your maiden name.
I recommend contacting Social Security for your particular situation. You want to ensure that your past and future earnings are properly attributed to you, and this may not happen without confirming with Social Security.
