My father in law has on his death certificate,the same s.s.# as my mother in law yet they died years apart what do we do ?

I'm not sure of the issue here. Do you know the "correct" numbers for the two?
If the death certificate is wrong, I would first see if it can be corrected with the local authorities.
Even if the death certificate has an incorrect SSN, if you're looking to apply for survivor benefits for a dependent, the SSA may accept the incorrect SSN on the death certificate as long as you have sufficient other proof of the decedent's identity.

If the Social Security number itself is incorrect, contact any Social Security office to make changes.
