Good afternoon:
I would like to inquire about the availability of SSI providers to visit applicants who may be hospitalized or in a community nursing home. I am aware of a patient who had 2 appointments scheduled with providers, but missed both appointments due to hopsitalization.
Is it possible that he may reschedule with a provider who will assess him while in a community nursing home?Thank you in advance for the response.
SSI appointments while hospitalized
I'm not sure I understand what is meant by "SSI providers". I recommend contacting the SSA directly for this.
The following link has information about SSI benefits while in a hospital or nursing home. However, this is for folks already receiving SSI, so it doesn't seem to match your situation.

Regarding processing disability applications, the SSA operating manual states the following, "We give individuals options for conducting business (e.g., in-office, telephone, field visits, mail, and internet services)." So it may be possible for an SSA rep to visit you. Again, please contact the SSA directly.
