Hi,
I just got married 3 weeks ago. I am going Monday to SS to change my name. I would like to keep my maiden name as a second middle name. Is this allowed? I do not want to hyphen my last name nor do I want to drop my middle name. I live in Massachusetts..
Name change to two middle names - Social Security
For SSA enumeration purposes, a legal name consists of a:
The legal name is the name used to sign legal documents, deeds, or contracts.
1. Middle name and suffix
The SSA does not consider the middle name or suffix part of the legal name. Whether the middle name or suffix is included, omitted or incorrectly shown on evidentiary documents submitted with an SS-5 (Application for a Social Security number Card) does not matter.
