Son's Sibling Turning 18

Hello, I just had a quick question: My son was receiving disability but was changed over to Survivor Benefits awhile back (he is over 18). His half-sis is turning 18 soon and is not in school. I was just curious if this would effect my son's benefits? Thanks.

You don't indicate that the sister is receiving Social Security benefits. If so, there is a "family maximum" that may be limiting benefits on a per-child basis. See here for more :

However, if your sun is receiving survivor benefits, it's more likely that he'll lose his benefits fairly soon. Children of deceased, retired or disabled parents do receive Social Security benefits. However, they end after age 18, or at the end of the 12th grade, whichever occurs first.
