I’m newbie and trying to learn the system so that i can help myself and others in need. This must be a typical newbie question. I saw that we can go SSA.gov and create an account under
My Social security and get earnings statement. What is this statement? Is it the statement for the taxes we pay as social security or is it the summary of benefits available.

The statement available online is an electronic (PDF) version of the paper statements that the SSA sent out up until a couple years ago.
The statement shows both your earnings history and an estimate of benefits you or your beneficiaries might receive.
