Extended travel while receiving Disability

My mother lives in one state and we live in another. We were wanting to have her come and spend the summer with us and her grandchildren. She is not changing her state of residence. My Mother is on Disability and has been told by the people in her local SS office that she cannot leave the state in which she lives for more than 30 days or she will lose her eligibility for benefits. Is this true?

I couldn't find details on this, but I would think this would depend on whether your mother receives "need-based" SSI or "work-based" SSDI.

SSI varies from state to state. Additionally, SSI benefits vary with living arrangements. If you move in with someone, your SSI benefits may be affected.
