Our daughter is on SSI. She is 21 years of age and does not have a drivers licence. She is about to recieve a settlement from a car accident. Can she buy a car for us to drive her to appointments, work? Should the car be registered in only her name?
One vehicle for household transportation is not an SSI resource
In general, one vehicle, if it is used for transportation for you or a member of your household, does not count towards the SSA's limit of $2,000 of "countable resources" for an individual.
