I am a 20 year retired AF Officer. I plan to begin drawing SS at age 62. How will my SS benifits be affected by my Military Retirement Plan

Retiered Gov't worker with over 30 years of service, retired from the Aie Force Reserves with 25 years of service, also worked at private companys paying into SS for over 30 years. Will I receive all of my SS benifits or will I receive part.

Service (active duty) from 1957-1977 may qualify for increasing your SS Benefit. How does one apply for extra earnings?

How long does it take for you to start getting your unemployment? It has
been since Jan 14 2009. Nothing has come of it yet. Why?

This is a bit off-topic of Social Security, but this may help. Unemployment is handled at the state level, so procedures vary from state-to-state. A typical time-frame is folks receive their first payment during their third week of unemployment. Check with your local unemployment office for details.

Hi; I was wondering, that since I was qualified and granted disability; and was given a "backpay" payment. I was in the process of going through divorce at the time ( ex-husband and I had joint account but his paychecks went to a seperate bank; our account was just used to pay bills until my disability came. He then took over half of my settlement; and then the money that was delegated for one of my two dependant children without my permission; pretty much leaving me broke. He does have primary custody of the juvenile in joint conservatorship; but is he allowed to just take my money and run? I have bank statements to show my account was inactive unless he transferred funds to electronically pay bills- essentially abandoning the account. He would not even remove himself after we were divorced. I had to go with him to the bank to remove himself. Was he entitled to half my money ? If he was not allowed to have my backpay; what can I do> Thanks, Bekkah.

are you penalized in either way soc. sec. or va if you take early soc. sec at 62 an draw 100 % service connected disability.
tried to get soc.sec. disabled when starting on va but ss returned paperwork back to us to late and then said we waited to long to file.

Special rules make it possible for people receiving Social Security disability benefits to work and still receive monthly payments.

A trial work period allows you to test your ability to work for at least nine months. During your trial work period, you will receive your full Social Security benefits regardless of how much you are earning as long as you report your work activity and you continue to have a disabling impairment. In 2012, a trial work month is any month in which your total earnings are over $720, or if you are self-employed, you earn more than $720 (after expenses) or work more than 80 hours in your own business. The trial work period continues until you have worked nine months within a 60-month period.

After your trial work period, you have 36 months during which you can work and still receive benefits for any month your earnings are not "substantial." In 2012, the SSA generally considers earnings over $1,010/month ($1,690/month if you are blind) to be substantial. No new application or disability decision is needed for you to receive a Social Security disability benefit during this period.

I have been recieving social security disability since 2005 based on my work history, which isn't much. along with that I was recieving veterens pension which is counted with s.s. and veterens determining what they use for incom. my question is they stopped my vet. pension, after I was just granted d.i.c. service conned death . does social security cont this money? this vet income is a non asses income that no one can take away from me. so I am confused about the social security part in this.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but here are some thoughts.

If you receive Social Security disability payments based on your work history ("normal" Social Security disability), then other income you may have has no effect on your Social Security benefit.

However, if you receive SSI based on disability, other income likely will affect your SSI payment.

You may want to contact the SSA directly for your particular case.
