My ex-husband ignored a NJ court order to pay child support, and never paid it. The children are now over the age of 18, and I am unemployed. I need the support arrears paid back to me to support myself. He is on Air Force disability benefit with full privileges. I want to garnish the back support, but I no longer have his ssn, and the
Air Force will not process the paperwork without it. I live in DE, he lives in Fl; what do I do ? Thanks.

The USFSPA also provides an enforcement mechanism for court-ordered alimony and child support. If support is ordered by a state court, DFAS can garnish wages directly from military pay. To avoid garnishment, the member is encouraged to institute a voluntary allotment with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).

Child Support Arrears
I knew that! I just volunteered with one of your retired programmers who actually wrote your program to deduct arrears from social security. He told me to go into your office and that you would tell me what to do to garnish the arrears. He said something about my going to small claims court to get it recorded, but he wasn't sure where to go from there. I told you that I filed the Air Force garnishment form already, and they kicked it back to me because it didn't have his social. Now, how do I proceed?

Please call the court your divorce was filed, and arrange an appointment. You are allowed to request your file Both of your social security numbers should be in record. Another - what office enforced collection of child support / or office child support order from court was sent. The Child support collection agency also - must allow you to view all your records/file. Both SS# should be in this files as well. I would encourage , calling and request a time that would be good for both parties, (you and court workers) You are also allowed to copy records if you choose, but there is generally a fee associated with this, standard is 1.00 per page.
